Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

This summer, I'll be working in the Neuroscience Department at Baylor College of Medicine. The project involves the neurobiology of addiction (specifically the nervous system's response to nicotine and subsequent withdrawl syndrome)! Very cool - I just can't wait to get down to Houston. I know I'm going to miss my precious friends here in Fayetteville, but am quite ready for a new adventure, you know.

Very exciting. I've always wanted to be a Texas resident; who wouldn't want to be from a state that everyone there loves being from? Makes sense to me.

Sounds cool! Research seems like a lot of fun, just beginning to get into mine (I took too many classes the first two semesters and haven't gotten much done). Enjoy the summer - you'll have a leg up on going to grad school with such experience.

I just heard this last weekend that researchers have developed a vaccine that inhibits nicotine from being absorbed by the brain. (insert science jargon here) Have you heard about this?
